RAVE OR SAVE: FENTY BEAUTY BY RIHANNA

HEY GALS! LONG TIME NO BLOG! How are you guys?!

So I’ve been meaning to post a review on this makeup collection ever since I got it. But Hurricane Irma came my way and delayed the process. I’m a terrible blogger. I know. But I’m working on it! So today’s review will be on the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna launch! Will I rave about it or will I tell you to save your money on it? Well, you’re going to have to read my review to find out! You can always watch my YouTube video that I made as well! I filmed a haul, swatches, a makeup look, and a review all in one video! I will link it all the way at the end of this post! As always, links to purchase will be at the end of the post.

So, let’s start off with the foundation—Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Long Wear Foundation

YOU GUYS THIS FOUNDATION IS THE BOMB.COM! I got it in the shade 170. It truly is  soft matte but it looks extremely natural on the skin! The first day I tried it out, I applied it to my prepped skin at around 3 PM and wore it until 5 AM because I was out dancing with some friends in the city! By 2 AM I noticed it started to break up just a tiny bit on my cheeks. By that time it was already nearly 11 hours of wear-time. So I was very impressed! Specially, since I was dancing and sweating the whole time. I did apply a thin layer so that my face didn’t look super matte (aka the sahara dessert) and it looked like my skin but better, truly. I was skeptical at first when I tried the foundation because I’m not into matte foundations. I tend to steer away from matte foundations because I feel like they look cakey so I was glad that it was very natural-looking. I’m very picky with my foundations and I’m so glad I loved this one! Many foundations that are sold at Sephora/Ulta/Drugstore look cakey or breakup on me after an hour or two or three so I’m glad I did not regret my purchase. BUT it did oxidize just a little but it didn’t affect my shade match but keep that in mind when you’re checking it out! For Sephora, a $34 foundation is unheard of (unless it’s from the Sephora Collection). So I was very pleased that Rihanna’s Pro Filt’r foundation was on the much “cheaper” side. The foundation is a total hit in my eyes! P.S. my skin is normal to combination!

Then, I got the Match Stix Matte Skinstick in the shade Amber.

Amber is very beautiful cool toned contour shade. Upon swatching the Matte Skinsticks in store I noticed that they felt a little waxy. I did not buy the concealer for that reason. I did not want to apply pressure or tug my under-eyes to prevent wrinkles. Also, I heard that they didn’t conceal much either. It was more dedicated to highlight as a matte stick. When I applied Amber to the perimeters of my face, I found it waxy as well. For that reason, I believe it was hard to blend. I always use a stippling brush to blend out creams, specifically cream contours, and I had trouble blending the shade. I did find that using a Beauty Blender does blend it out a lot better. I wasn’t a fan of the formula but I loved the shade on me. I think it’s great for pale girls! That being said, I wouldn’t repurchase again.

I also got the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby & Trophy Wife.

I absolutely love both!! The duo highlighters, Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby, was such a beautiful golden/icy peach shade. Mean Money was the subtle highlight and Hu$tla Baby was the more metallic highlight. Since Mean Money is more on the subtle side, it provided a soft glow (if you build it up). I personally loved Hu$tla Baby more because it was more blinding and in your face! What I loved most about it is that it didn’t have specks of glitter. I would highly recommend these! Now as for Trophy Wife, it was such a beautiful gold-yellow highlighter with a ton of glitter. Since I’m pretty fair, the highlight would not look too flattering on me on a day-to-day basis. But as an eyeshadow…… GIIIIRL. It was stunning! It does have glitter particles (which I don’t mind on the eyes). I think this shade would be perfect to be worn for my pale a** on halloween, concerts, editorial makeup, etc. Trophy wife is not for the faint-hearted. I created an eye look using Trophy Wife.

Last but not least, the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in the shade Fenty Glow.

I’m a gloss gal myself and I absolutely love this gloss! It’s such a thin and comfortable formula. It’s not an opaque gloss or a sheer gloss. It’s right in the middle with tiny flecks of silver-gold glitter. I love that it’s not sticky, or viscous, or goopy. I think the shade is beautiful too! On me, it’s like a “your lips but better” kind of gloss. AND IT SMELLS LIKE JOLLY RANCHER.

Here is a picture of all the products on my face:

Okay, so for my final thoughts on this Rave or Save series. I loved every single product I purchased except for the Match Stix. I found the consistency to be a little too waxy for my taste and I think that interfered with the blendability of the product. I would recommend swatching it in stores to see if you like it enough to purchase it! I feel like there are better contour sticks on the market so you’re better off saving your money! Everything else was a rave! Leave a comment if you purchased anything from her makeup line! I would love to hear your thoughts! đź’‹
